Featured in the Price of Glory Intro Pack, Resolute Archangel is one of the newest Magic: The Gathering cards from Wizards of the Coast's Magic 2015 Core Set. This white rare creature will reset your life back to its starting point, allowing you to gain valuable time to win the game.

When Resolute Archangel enters the battlefield, if your life total is less than your starting life total, it becomes equal to your starting life total.
Cut it down, bury it in snow, put it to the torch. The rose will still bloom again.

At seven mana Resolute Archangel is a bit pricey to cast, however what you're really paying for is its "enters the battlefield" ability. It's an incredibly powerful effect, which will have a huge impact on almost any duel you're playing in.

Resolute Archangel triggers "whenever you gain life" abilities from cards such as Ajani's Pridemate and Archangel of Thune. Perhaps the best card to pair Resolute Archangel with is Sanguine Bond, which will make your opponent lose life equal to the amount of life you gain. Now that's a killer combo.

Another idea is to run Resolute alongside cards which require you to pay life, so that their costs don't matter as much. Shocklands, Mana Confluence, Underworld Connections, Trading Post, Vizkopa Confessor, Cruel Sadist, and Sign in Blood are just a few cards worth mentioning.

Another way of abusing Resolute Archangel is with cards which allow you to flicker your creatures. As such, Resolute Archangel makes an excellent addition to any Roon of the Hidden Realm commander deck. Plus in commander you begin with 40 life, which makes Resolute Archangel even stronger.

One idea in Standard might be to play a couple of copies in a controlling white blue control deck packing counterspells such as Dissolve or Syncopate along with sweepers like Fated Retribution or Supreme Verdict. Even if just brought out of your sideboard against aggressive decks, a successfully cast Resolute Archangel could be a determining factor in winning.
