Residents fleeing liberal states

AP Photo/Danny Johnston

The latest numbers from the Census Bureau show that there is a mass exodus of taxpayers happening in all the most liberal states. This means that such states are not only losing urgently needed revenues at the worst possible time, but also representation both in the electoral college and in the House.

As I have noted before, studies also unsurprisingly show that these states are the most bankrupt. This is how liberals "help" people.

As usual, California topped off the list. Even including the illegal immigrants perpetually pouring into the state, it still managed to lose almost 100,000 more residents than it gained in the year ending July 1st.

New York, Michigan, Illinois and Ohio rounded off the top five. Ohio has been run by liberal Democrats for some time now, but residents actually started uprooting there in droves when the manufacturing sector collapsed (thanks to tax hikes, over-regulation, frivolous lawsuits, labor unions and everything else liberals support).

Florida was another unusually conservative state to be thrown into the mix at number 6, but it is only since the introduction of massive tax hikes and spending increases (liberal policies) in places like Miami that people have begun to leave.

All these states, especially California are over run with illegals. We are tired of paying for them. When the taxpayers leave. Who will pay for our government not enforcing our immigration laws? We all need to fight this disgusting excuse for a government. We are citizens, are not protected. Time to sue our government.

The problem with all these liberals leaving liberal states is they haven't figured out their voting habits are causing the problems, so they bring their liberal crap with them to the new states and devastate the states by voting in every loser democrat progressive running for office.

We don't want or need them. In fact, I wish all the Louisiana democrats would go home from our state and have heard the same rumblings from Texas. These folks mostly are looking for a free ride at someone else's expense.

The liberals sre not leaving these staes, it's the Conservatives that are leaving and they are usually the ones with the big money...companies....etc....that spells a big loss for these states, but it serves them right! I have zero sympathy for them!

Once again, you're taking an objective report and drawing a conclusion that neatly fits your preconceived notions. You shouldn't have stopped there, though. You could have suggested that all of these people moved to counties in states where "Going Rogue" is a bestseller and firearm possession is mandatory! Come on, Robert! Don't let us down!

Actually Ohio had been ruled by Republicans for over a decade until the last Gubernatorial election when democrats took the executive branch and the House, the Senate is still in republican hands. However many of those who were in power were liberal Republicans, Taft, Voinovich, Dewine, etc.

I'm a fellow examiner and live in CA. The stats don't surprise me here, our unemployment rate is high, but so are states like Arizona and Nevada. Las Vegas alone has almost a 14% rate of unemployment than California as a whole. Plus there a more conservative regions of CA that have held the line at the County Level.

But one SERIOUS factor that has costs jobs in Ohio, etc. is the stupid TRADE DEALS done with Mexico, China, etc. that have resulted in the shifting of our jobs over to COMMUNIST CHINA. This has been promoted by Presidents of Both Parties. From Reagan on...Reagan waas the last President who didn't believe in "enriching Communism, but destroying it"...The GOP strayed away from that good message by helping Bush Sr, Clinton, Bush Jr and now Obama to trade away blue collar jobs to slave wage Commies...

Plus Bush Jr and others have helped to liberalize our states like CA by pushing CA's citizens out cause they want Cheap Labor for businesses and farmers that support them

It will become as simple as economics and survival, and as complicated as forming a cohesive group of people under 'States-rights" I see secession as being plausable. If this Un-constitutional, treasonous, Govt. continues with it's current agenda.

I can understand why. I am tired of Chicago dominating our entire state. If things don't change, we will vote with our feet, too.

Not that it will make any difference to the author, but the complete Census Bureau data (can be downloaded from the census bureau website) reveals no correlation between the alleged "liberalness" of a state and its population changes. Population growth in Massachusetts and Mississippi -- the most liberal and conservative states, respectively, I'd say -- were nearly the same (Massachusetts beat Mississippi by one tenth of a percent). And calling Ohio a "liberal" state is a joke, right? What you're seeing here is a move away from the old manufacturing states -- the "rust belt." The declines there have been decades in the making.

When your state over taxes you, then MOVE. Why people keep voting for the left and higher taxes is beyond me. YOU eventually pay for it one way or another.

We escaped CA this past summer. Now we do not have to pay for private school (Since LAUSD was not an option there), we have NO mortgage, lots of space between neighbors and folks here are happy to say "Merry Christmas"!!!
