'Resident Evil: Revelations 2' locales revealed via concept art

Earlier today, Sept 3, Capcom's official blog released two concept art stills and some very minor details regarding the recently announced "Resident Evil: Revelations 2". According to the post, provided by Capcom blogger Brelston, the sequel to the sea-faring "Revelations" will take place on an island prison. To long time "Resident Evil" fans, this setting may seem a little familiar as a portion of "Resident Evil: Code Veronica" had protagonist Claire Redfield escaping from the island prison, Rockfort Island.

While Capcom was quick to divulge information on setting, it still remains tightlipped about who gamers will be controlling. The series has several main protagonists, including Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, his sister Claire, and Jill Valentine. Considering Chris and Leon just received main billing in "Resident Evil 6", one would think the developer would want to consider giving another key player a main roll; but how many times can Claire find herself in prison?

Another key question is where "Revelations 2" will fall in the series timeline. The likely scenario is that this will be a direct sequel to "Revelations" and a prequel of sorts to "Resident Evil 6". It would be nice for this to tie the t-Abyss virus into the rest of the series and creation of the C-virus, but it's more probable that this will play off of the end credit's scene at the end of the original "Revelations".

The announcement for "Revelations 2" came accompanied with a stylized teaser trailer, one that Brelston states is "filled with suggestive imagery and possible hints". He did warn, though, that "at the end of the day it's still not something you'll directly see in the game".

"Resident Evil: Revelations 2" has no specific release date, slated only as early 2015, but it is confirmed to be in development for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
