The rumor mill once again proved accurate when yesterday, Aug 31, Capcom took the stage at Sony's pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference to confirm the existence of "Resident Evil: Revelations 2". The rumor started almost two weeks ago when an apparent leak of the game's box art showed up on French website, Gamer in a Box. Capcom stuck to its schedule, though, and decided to wait until the press conference to confirm or deny the image.
"Resident Evil: Revelations" followed series' favorites Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine as they battled against the new t-Abyss Virus. The sea vessel backdrop let "Revelations" return the series to its survival horror roots, while the 3DS exclusivity added a new depth to the series. It was later ported to the Wii U, PS3, and Xbox 360 and, despite its handheld popularity, was met with mediocre reception.
According to the official website for "Resident Evil: Revelations 2", the game will stick to the survival horror genre. Beyond that, details about this follow up are pretty nonexistent. With an early 2015 release date, you can expect to hear more over the next couple of months. For now, Capcom leaves us with a highly intriguing teaser that may hint at a widespread epidemic that is being monitored or quelled via colored bracelets.
"Revelations 2" is scheduled to launch on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. A lack of Wii U and 3DS support may suggest that the game will run on the higher end of the graphical spectrum.
