Reset: Washington is doing something

There are reasons why President Obama hit the reset button with Republicans and why Washington is starting to move again.

  • Obama won reelection
  • Obama has everything to win and nothing to lose

  • Republicans have everything to lose and some things to win
  • Voters support Obama and don’t buy the “conservative agenda”

Everyone want to achieve a sustainable economy, but few people talk about that.

People, in general, probably are not aware that the economic system is at fault in all of this. Capitalism skews wealth and power into the hands of a few. Government tries to regulate that propensity, however, wealthy and powerful people have skewed the laws and rules sufficiently to deny proper regulation.

The issue of controlling capitalists is trivial in light of the bigger issue, and that is to replace the capitalist model with sustainable economics. Right now, the movement that you see in Washington is the inching along to keep government afloat. President Obama is advancing legislation, a few important things on which he can gain bipartisan support.

“Obama is changing course to reset his relationships with Republican lawmakers, hoping for a last chance of breaking Washington’s gridlock before becoming a lame-duck president.

Obama wants to cement his legacy with a long-term deal to rein in the federal deficit and new immigration and gun laws, his advisers said. But his reelection victory, which brought a humiliating GOP defeat, has done little to break the logjam on taxes and entitlements.”
