This past weekend I disconnected myself from the eBay world so I could enjoy my brothers wedding. Friday was the rehearsal dinner, Saturday was the wedding, and Sunday was a time to sleep in and relax with my family. Even though I was trying to disconnect, my body started to twitch when I saw the wedding decorations being thrown away after everything was over. I was trying hard not to think of how much money I could make by selling the beach themed wedding items, and I instantly started to think how I would sell them. In a lot or individually? Fixed price or auction? Luckily, on Sunday, my mom told me that there were about 100 “Message in a bottles” that were left on the tables at the reception. This was meant to be taken by the guests as a party favor, but now can be sold on eBay to another couple planning a beach themed wedding.
This brings me to my point, no matter what type of themed party you are throwing, there probably is someone else wanting to throw the same type of party as you. If you were just planning to throw away all of your decorations when your party was over, then why not sell all of your items on eBay? Decorations are expensive and buyers are always looking for a deal. This especially works well with children’s themed parties. Amy and I doubled down on eBay with Jacks last birthday. We found many of our Sesame Street themed decorations used on eBay, and when the party was all over, I resold them and got my money back.
So the next time you are having a party, be careful with the decorations when you are taking them down. There is probably someone else who is looking for the same decorations that you have, so why not be the person to sell it to them
