On 10 September 2011, the Maryland Historical Society and the Maryland Genealogical Society will jointly present a special program entitled "Researching Your Civil War Ancestors." The program will be held at the Maryland Historical Society at 201 West Monument Street, in Baltimore.
The program will feature three speakers:
- Michael Hait, author of The Civil War Draft in Maryland: Lists of Drafted Men, 1862-1865, Volumes I and II, will present "Your Civil War Ancestors: A Guide to Research"
- David Shriver Lovelace will present "The Shriver Family: A Genealogical Perspective of the Civil War"
- Michael Musick, will present "Lesser Known Civil War Records at NARA"
The cost of this program is $25 for Maryland Historical Society and Maryland Genealogical Society members, and $40 for non-members. Pre-registration and payment are highly recommended, as space may be limited. Registration Deadline is September 7.
The program includes breakfast, catered lunch, and optional tours of the Maryland Historical Society Civil War Exhibits. Researchers may also conduct their own research in the Historical Society's H. Furlong Baldwin Library.
Up to 30 registrants, for an additional donation of $10, will also have an opportunity to participate in guided research with the experts. This guided research will consist of the use of online databases to check for your own "Civil War ancestors"!
