According to recent research - Q4 2013 Caregiver Trend Report - surveying 1,284 caregivers, CNAs (certified nursing assistants), and HHAs (home health aides), the majority of the population noted a preference towards working for a homecare franchise organization vs. an independent homecare agency.
Although the spread was small, 53% of caregivers favored working in a franchise environment.
It's a reminder for franchises and independents to play to their strengths in recruitment ads and enticing caregivers to join a team.
If you’re part of the employment process for a franchise, remind caregivers of their role within a greater network and highlight opportunities for growth and training that become available when working with franchises. Caregiver training is a key motivator that many larger established franchise organizations have in place yet often don't mention during the recruitment process. Likewise, if you’re hiring for an independent agency, note opportunities for community development and the advantages of working for a more tight-knit company.
