Rescuers retrieve dog from frozen lake

Steuben County, IN - A Chocolate Lab was rescued from an icy lake this morning, thanks is large part to the efforts of an alert resident of the Lakewood Mobile Home Park.

According to WANE News, Tim Willms heard a dog barking earlier today. The man could tell that the dog was in distress and took it upon himself to investigate.

He spotted the dog struggling in the frigid waters of Barton Lake. Thankfully, the man quickly phoned 911.

Rescuers donned special protective wear and ventured onto the lake to retrieve the struggling dog.

After being brought back to shore, the dog was wrapped in blankets. Rescuers believe that the dog may have been in the lake for as long as 45 minutes.

Suffice to say, he is one lucky dog to be alive right now.

According to the news report, the dog has been reuinted with his owners.

Great job Tim Willms and the Orland Fire and Rescue team!
