Lexi aka Deja-Roo was a rescue dog whose foster had appealed for help for when she felt the dog would be euthanized by the very rescue who saved her. The conflicting details circulated social media but as of today, Lexi/Deja-Roo is no longer with her foster but in a safe location. According to facebook postings, a lawyer named John who is associated with Petey's Pack got Deja-Roo's foster to agree to allow The Lexus Project to intervene in the situation.
Social media reports that Lexi/Deja-Roo had a mani-pedi today and a massage by the pool in her new location. The dog is apparently doing well. An update with pictures was posted on the respective facebook sites for Petey's Pack and The Lexus Project. Other reports are that Deja-Roo is now legally under the care of The Lexus Project and is at a training facility. These details are still being confirmed.
Does she not look like just the sweetest little girl?
Lexi is doing great at her resort. She went to the spa this morning, had a manicure and pedicure, then a massage by the pool. This afternoon once again she went for a walk on the beach...and she needed too...she has been hitting the free buffet a bit too hard!
On a serious note, I cannot wait to tell the story of how Lexi made it from her foster home to her new safe haven! There were a lot of tremendous people who acted immediately to help this girl. Rescues, Transporters and yes, even Pilots (we were not kidding about the flight) worked together to get Lexi safe! It was a Canine version of ARGO!
I can say this much, within 60 minutes of receiving the email from the Rescue which contained the following language we had worked out a plan to move Lexi to a location where no one could harm her.
"I am going to the magistrate this morning to file a civil suit to regain custody of Lexi and to have a constable accompany us to remove Lexi from Tara"
Thank God we worked just a little bit faster!
The Lexus Project also posted a comment about the Lexi/Deja-Roo situation:
We were contacted with widely divergent stories.
Our only interest was to make sure Lexi/ Debra Boo didn't get caught in this crossfire and didn't fall through the cracks.
The trust was formed through the Lexus Project and Lexi/Deja Boo was moved to safe place.
A Positive Promise Pit bull Foundation (APP) is not the villain here.
As always there are 3 sides to every story, his, hers and somewhere in the middle, the truth. We have been in discussions with APP and the people who were going to foster Lexi/Deja Boo and everyone only had Lexi's /Deja Boo best interest at heart as they saw it.
We will update with pictures and an evaluation when it becomes available.
This could not have happened as quickly or as effortlessly if it had not been for the help and dedication we got form John Schill/ Petey's Pack. Thank you, John.
Everyone is happy Lexi/Deja Boo is safe.
