Rescue Mediums investigate Spirits at Rice Lake

The Rescue Mediums, Jackie Dennison and this time medium Rhonda Lee recently visited a century farmhouse that has been turned into a bed and breakfast at Gore’s Landing on the shore of Rice Lake.

Rice Lake forms a part of the Trent-Severn Waterway. It is 32 km long and 5 km wide. The local Natives refer to it as Pemadashdakota, which means “lake of the burning plains.” It is named after the wild rice that at one time grew in the lake. Today it is a popular tourist attraction for boating, water sports and especially fishing due to this shallow lake’s Walleye, Panfish, Muskie and Bass.

The residents had become alarmed by the sound of spirit voices, as well as a feeling of being watched. The Rescue Mediums were called in to investigate but before they arrived, they had a number of premonitions including a small lake, a drowning, divers, dredging the lake and an old male spirit with his back bent over who appeared sad and like he was looking for something.

When they arrived, they sat down with the residents and then took a look around outside on the snow-covered property. Jackie sensed that they were not alone.

“I just heard a gentleman talking in my ear,” she said. “What he said was, ‘I’ll meet you later.’”

When they went inside a barn, they went up to the loft where they felt “disturbing vibes” as if something bad had happened there.

“I definitely feel the sadness,” Jackie said.

Back in the house, Jackie noted that a little girl was following them. As she spoke, Rhonda said she saw “blue lights twinkling” around her. In the basement, Jackie placed a hand on the old cement wall and both of the mediums felt a distinct vibration.

In the sub-basement, which was the laundry area, Jackie saw a series of pictures but all she could focus on was the land and the lake outside. She also saw a lady who drowned and then a male spirit. She was quickly overcome and began choking, which she figured signified the woman’s last breaths. Feeling faint, she sat down.

She then saw the man they’d seen outside come in and Jackie said he was the person who originally settled in the place. The male spirit opened a door and wonderful bright light poured through. Both of the spirits went through the door, as well as other “young and old” Jackie said, who had drowned in the lake over the years.

After doing some research on the area, the Rescue Mediums realized that Rice Lake had been the site of many tragedies. They also learned that a man named Frances Chaney was one of the original owners of the property prior to 1914. His son William drowned in Rice Lake in 1883.

Jackie told the current owners, “If you see a face at the window, it would be him (Frances) just checking to make sure everyone is okay.”
