As an additional cost to cast Rescue from the Underworld, sacrifice a creature.
Choose target creature card in your graveyard. Return that card and the sacrificed card to the battlefield under your control at the beginning of your next upkeep. Exile Rescue from the Underworld.
Compare Rescue from the Underworld to Unburial Rites. Rescue from the Underworld can be used as an instant, allowing you to sacrifice a creature that was targeted by Chained to the Rocks or another removal spell, effectively giving you a two for one. Like Gift of Immortality, you'll get the most value out of Rescue from the Underworld when you combine it with creatures that have powerful "enters the battlefield" abilities like Shadowborn Demon. It's important to note that Rescue from the Underworld does require you to have a creature on the battlefield in order to cast it, meaning it that it's not that effective against control decks packed with board sweepers like Supreme Verdict.
Expect Rescue from the Underworld to be an all-star in limited, however there's some significant hurdles leap over for it to be effective in constructed. Graveyard based strategies have to overcome some powerful hate in standard at the moment between Rest in Peace and Scavenging Ooze. There's no doubt that Rescue from the Underworld will shine in Commander.
How will you use Rescue from the Underworld?
