Funny Cide, Smarty Jones and Zenyatta can surely run . . . but can these horses paint art too?
ReRun, Inc., a thoroughbred rescue organization based in New Jersey, is offering colorful original paintings by famous horses in an online auction. The auction, which began on April 25th, will run through May 2nd.
Horses actually paint the artwork, using their hooves, muzzles, noses, tails and whiskers to spread non-toxic paints on white paper. Some horses even hold paintbrushes in their mouths, assisted by ReRun staffers and volunteers.
The framed abstract artwork includes brass nameplates, along with hoofprints and tresses from equine artists’ manes or tails. Some paintings have been autographed by horse owners, trainers or jockeys.
