The Republican Party in Congress has created zero legislation that would help create jobs and improve our economy, but they have passed legislation that would kill jobs. Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) when asked why they passed legislation that would kill 750,000 jobs, Speaker Boehner looked down his nose and said, “so be it”. A very callous attitude towards American citizens.
Everyday Republicans tell those in the media that Obamacare must be repealed. They have voted on legislation to defund or repeal the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, 40 times. And to no one’s surprise, every Republican voted in favor to defund Obamacare, 40 times. It is estimated that each vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act cost approximately $2.5 million, which works out to about $100 million that the Republicans have wasted when they should have been doing their jobs, help fix the economy and help create jobs.
Republicans have been shouting to end Obamacare, while at the same time sending letters to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services seeking funding for programs in their own States. Those funds comes from the Affordable Care Act. And you can read the letters here, posted by The Nation magazine.
Even Rep. Paul Ryan sent in a letter seeking funds for a health program in his State that would be funded by the Affordable Care Act. You may remember Rep. Paul Ryan, he ran for Vice-President with Mitt Romney, who created Romneycare in his own State of Massachusetts while Governor, which was the blueprint for Obamacare.
Obamacare and Romneycare were both based on a plan by Republicans who wanted to institute a “mandate” that would require that everyone have health insurance. But since a Democrat, President Obama, decided to use their idea, they were dead set against it, at least publicly, because the letters you read will show that they secretly liked it for health care programs in their own States.
So, not only are they hypocrites for shouting it down while quietly seeking funds from the Affordable Care Act, they are also liars.
These Republican politicians do not care about creating any jobs, especially good paying jobs, but they sure do love to kill jobs. And they don’t care if you have health insurance either. They have a good paying government job with tax payer funded health insurance. They got theirs, that’s all that seems to matter to them.
By killing jobs from Washington D.C. and killing jobs in Republican controlled states by destroying unions and their bargaining rights, they create an atmosphere of lower wages and lower benefits for their corporate bosses, who in return give them plenty of money to stay in office where they get a big tax payer salary and tax payer health care. And when they do leave office, their corporate bosses give them high paying jobs as lobbyists to continue the cycle. The goal of today’s Republican is to destroy the middle class by lowering wages and benefits in order to create a third world workforce, right here in America using Americans as their cheap labor.
If you want real change, demand that corporate money be taken out of our election process, and demand that all federal elections be funded by the public. Without these changes we will never get the government we want, only the government we deserve.
There was a time when “We the People” elected politicians as our voice to Washington, now we simply elect politicians to be Washington’s voice to the people.
Republicans shout lies and if they caught, they may whisper an apology.
