A friend of mine has a saying for when her riding students ignore her instructions, make impulsive mistakes, or just refuse to listen. When addressing the issue she looks at the student and says,"stupid hurts." Tomorrow our nation will reach an intentionally caused stupid hurts moment when our Congressional lords of the manor will intentionally allow sequestration cuts to take effect that will benefit the richest among us, be paid for by the rest of us, and likely for most of us will deepen the never ending economic depression that began in 2008 and only Wall Street has recovered from.
Oh, both political party's have been posturing and blaming the other side when the reality is that both sides did this intentionally and that the economy ,as bad as it is, is running exactly as the Rich who bought our government in the last election want it to run.
They know, for instance, that we don't have a spending problem we have a revenue problem but the campaign bribes everyone took pretending it was free speech in the last election were given to shield the wealthy yet again from paying their fair share of the taxes.
As Robert Reich pointed out, we don't have a budget deficit we have a jobs deficit of about 23 million jobs. That is likely to climb starting tomorrow as the automatic spending cuts of Sequestration go into effect with most economists the world over predicting a global recession caused by America's intentionally created economic recession.
The fact is we know exactly how to create jobs its just that isn't as profitable as destroying America and selling off the parts to the highest bidder. This is the economic version of the old alcoholic remedy for a hangover, the hair of the dog that bit you.
What you need to know about Milton Friedman's cancerous economic theories is that they prey off of economic misery because in crisis and economic anxiety everyone and everything is put up for sale and very little of America has not already been priced.
Their Free Market advocacy is one big fat fraud because they have no problem suppressing the Free Market for wages and labor just as they have no problem with Socialism as long it is Socialized losses and individualised profits.
Just as Naomi Klein posited in her 2007 book Shock Doctrine each of these crises is a phony trumped up crisis for which they have the poison pill stored in ALEC ( American Legislative Exchange Council) such as Right to Work, or Voter suppression while the rest of us are manipulated into looking the other way by a corporate media that engages in propaganda not informing the public of the truth.
She also pointed out that in each country that Austerity is put into place it takes an organized police state to keep the lid on when unemployment hits 30%. There is nothing Democratic about Friedman's ideas even if he tried to claim his ideas were the pinnacle of freedom. The reality is Freidman's economic theories are the scientific version of the Divine Right of Kings.
Because our forefathers fundamentally changed the role of the Militia from protecting the people from tyrannical government to protecting the property of the rich from the rest of us, you now also know who the war on terror is really designed to suppress and oppress. The answer will be looking back at you in the mirror.
As these Congressional buffoons we elected sell us out just remember you were told that and you voted far too often for the incumbent Congressman anyway because ideology trumped common sense. As our economic prospects get dimmer and dimmer because of the cheap corporate shills pretending to be lawmakers, think about that vote you made back in November and remember Stupid Hurts.
