Republican State Speaker sends an e-mail praying for President Obama to die

We all know that Republicans don't exactly have President Obama on their Christmas list. It would be an understatement to say that Republicans don't like the president, in fact, many conservatives across the country hate him. The reasons vary and in many cases aren't even valid. Whether its members of congress voting down every bill the president attempts to pass or angry members of the Tea Party protesting at local rallies, there is no love lost between them.

However, while citizens have a First Amendment right to be vocal about their opposition toward President Obama and his policies, elected officials should be held to a higher standard. Mike O'Neal, the Republican House Speaker of Kansas, has crossed a line that even in politics shouldn't be crossed. Last week O'Neal made the news by making racial slurs towards First Lady Michelle Obama, referring to her as "Mrs. YoMama." O'Neal is at it again as he forwarded an e-mail that contained a prayer towards President Obama hoping for his death. The e-mail quotes Psalms 109.

Excerpt from the e-mail:
Let his days be few; and let another take his office
May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow.
May his children be wandering beggars; may they be driven from their ruined homes.
May a creditor seize all he has; may strangers plunder the fruits of his labor.
May no one extend kindness to him or take pity on his fatherless children.
O’Neal's personal message added:
“At last — I can honestly voice a Biblical prayer for our president! Look it up — it is word for word! Let us all bow our heads and pray. Brothers and Sisters, can I get an AMEN? AMEN!!!!!!”
O'Neal has walked his statements back claiming that he only meant to speak about President Obama's time in office, but if you could read you would be able to see what was intended. House Speaker O'Neil and many other Republicans claim they are "compassionate conservatives" and speak about their "family values," but if Mr. O'Neal's thoughts are any sign of how conservatives feel then the country has a bigger problem than we thought.
