The Sacramento Republic F.C. will face the Oklahoma City Energy F.C. this Saturday night at Bonney Field located at Cal Expo. Sacramento (12-6-3) has lost their first two games to Oklahoma City (8-8-5) this season by the scores of 2-0 in each away game. With revenge on their mind as they take to the pitch Saturday night, the Republic needs another victory to keep them in third place. Fourth place L.A. Galaxy II (11-7-4) is only two points away and a win is vital to keeping the status quo in the standings.
Saturday night's kick-off has been pushed back to 8:00 P.M. due to the hot summer evenings in Sacramento. The Republic is led in scoring by the double headed threat of Rodrigo Lopez (seven goals and seven assists) and Tommy Stewart (seven goals and three assists). Adam Jahn and Justin Braun are tied for third in team scoring with four goals each. Oklahoma City is unbeaten in their last three games (2-0-1) and they're led by forward Kyle Greig (seven goals and two assists) and midfielder Michael Thomas.
Tomorrow's night game is "Back to School Night" presented by Arden Fair Mall. The team will be collecting school supplies and backpacks for Operation Backpack, a Volunteers of America program that collects back-to-school supplies for homeless and at-risk youths in Sacramento county. All donations will go to grade and high school children in the region. The game is sold out but you can follow the game online at http://www.sacrepublic.com/matchday or via Twitter at https://twitter.com/SacRepublicFC for live updates.
