The game for the first forty or so minutes was a battle over the pitch (field) as the Republic and Fuego were sizing each other out. Sacramento's Nemanja Vuković (assisted by Octavio Guzman) would score in the extra two minutes of game play to end the half at 1-0.

When the second half began it was all Republic as the would score five times to blow open the game making it a long night for the Fuego. Justin Braun (assisted by Tommy Stewart) would begin the deluge of goals by scoring in the 53rd minute of the game. Fresno's goalie Francisco Hernandez would put up a good defensive effort by blocking a few amazing shots but Sacramento's offense was too much for him as they would harass him with a strong attack on his goal. Tommy Stewart would score in the 61st minute (assisted by Rodrigo Lopez). Lopez himself would score on an unassisted goal in the 76th, Emrah Klimenta in the 81st (assisted by Rodrigo Lopez) and Steven Evans (assisted by Carlos Martinez) in the 89th minute.
