The Sacramento Republic F.C. defeated the Arizona United S.C. 2-1 last night at the Peoria Sports Complex for their second straight USL Pro League victory. With the win Sacramento improves to 12-6-3 whilst the United fall to 6-11-5.

The game was close during the first half as both teams were able to move the ball up and down the pitch but Sacramento was more dominate. The Republic had several opportunities to score in the first but the shots were either too wide or Arizona's goalie Evan Newton's defensive stand in front of the net. The United were able to get themselves into scoring position a few times but were thwarted by Sacramento's defense and the goalie play of Jake Gleeson. The half as both teams went into the locker rooms tied at zero.

Sacramento came out of the second half by dominating the play on the pitch. Their offense moved aggressively moving themselves into scoring position. J.J. Korval (a San Jose Earthquakes player on loan to Sacramento) scored his first USL Pro goal by scoring in the 53rd minute (assisted by Tommy Stewart) to put the Republic up 1-0. Arizona would score an equalizer in the 65th minute when Jonathon Top (assisted by Jon Okafor) scored to tie up the game 1-1. Justin Braun would come off the bench and score in the 78th minute with a one-on-one unassisted goal against Evan Newton.

The Republic would hold on for the next twelve minutes to win the game. Sacramento's next game will be at home against the Oklahoma City Energy this Saturday August 9th at Bonney Field. The Energy have been a thorn in Sacramento's side as they have beaten them the last two times by the score of 2-0. The Republic will face them again on September 4th as well.
