The game opened up with the Republic taking possession and pretty much dominated the both sides of the ball for pretty much of the first half. Sacramento drew first blood by scoring in the 10th minute when Tommy Stewart scored from a pass by Max Alvarez who streaked down the field to set up goal. In the middle of the first, Charlotte had a few chances to score an equalizer but failed to capitalize on the opportunities that were available. Eagles goalie Alec Kann managed to keep Sacramento out of the net for the rest of the half as it ended 1-0.

Sacramento started out the second just like the first by dominating on both sides of the field. Jake Gleeson played solid in front of the net and whilst the attackers kept pressured on Charlotte throughout the game. Alec Kann was stones behind the Eagles' net and put up a great stand against the persistent Republic offense. Neither team was able to score in the second half but Sacramento held on for the 1-0 road victory.
