An interview with record producer Didier C. Deutsch at TampaBay.com had the following comment:
These days, Deutsch, a Frenchman who moved to New York about 40 years ago, is working for Legacy Records, a reissue label for Sony (his latest project: a Bob Dylan 40-CD box set) . . .
It is not known what would be included in such a release - or if this is a typo. In any case, if this is unreleased material, it seemed that there is another installment of the Bootleg Series (or a similar archival project) in the works.
From the Rolling Stone website in April this year:
"The Classic-Rock Vaults Are Far From Empty. Bob Dylan. What's in the vaults: Underground favorites such as an early New York version of Blood on the Tracks, Mark Knopfler's original cut of Infidels, and the Holy Grail: the unedited Basement Tapes. Among the live stuff: Virtually nothing from Dylan... What's next: There's usually a new installment of The Bootleg Series each year Dylan doesn't release a new disc---which means this year. "We'd like to release superfan stuff, like the entire 'Like a Rolling Stone' session or the complete Blonde on Blonde sessions," says a source close to Dylan."
Thanks to Alan Fraser at Searching For A Gem, and Dag Braathen, for the information.

I think this of course sounds great. But how about a remastered for 5.1 Hard Rain w/ the tracks that didn't make the album, and accompanying DVD of the original broadcast. And while I know this would likely never happen, but a Surround remaster of Shot of Love.
A 40-CD "superfan" box set sounds about right if they're talking about a complete set of all Bob Dylan's studio albums - perhaps remastered and maybe with alternate versions and outtakes - probably marketed to coincide with his 70th birthday.
I agree, please complete the Super Audio remastering of everything and have everything available in 5.1 as well! The 16 cd set is a bit odd in that some are 5.1 and some are only stereo.
Yeah, great!!! Love waiting for new Dylan albums, even if they are oldies and boots.
ro/box set would be fab- though sadly, like all the box sets I couldn't afford it.
I'd love a Blonde on Blonde complete release- that would be fab.
Bost most of all I'd like a new album- waiting on the Jack of Hearts.
40 CDs?? It's got to be a typo.
I thought there were plans for a Sony Legacy release of the original New York version of Blood On The Tracks (the version that should have been released, but was pulled by Dylan).
How about a remastering, up to John Wesley Harding, of the MONO mixes. Like The Beatles remasters; far superior to the stereo afterthoughts. Even more so than The Beatles stereo channeling, a 4-piece band, since when do we listen to a man and his guitar (the first 4 albums) and hear voice on one side and the guitar on the other?
"his latest project", Legacy, etc... to me it is referring to the Dylan collection "DYLAN"... The next Bootleg Series IMHO should be LIVE SHOWS from 1980 (Toronto etc.), that was the most underrated period but the live shows were fantastic!
