A yet unconfirmed rumor has Ubisoft delaying yet another major title as one report has an anonymous source saying Tom Clancy’s The Division won’t be ready by the end of 2014, according to a report today from VG 24/7.
The anonymous source, reportedly an insider with The Division developer Ubisoft Massive, told GameReactor that it’s almost silly to expect the game to launch by the end of this year.
“The game engine works well; it is not clear but works well,” the source said. “Actual game development has barely begun, however. The fact that Ubisoft issued a 2014 release date seems laughable if I’ll be completely honest. We will never have time to release The Division this year.”
The source said the large-scale project still has a ways to go until completion.
The rumors come as a post to the Xbox Wire has The Division launching for the Xbox One by the end of this year. You can read that full Examiner report by clicking here.
If the rumors turn out to be accurate, this will be the third game Ubisoft has needed to delay in recent months, as the publisher announced in October that it would be pushing back next-gen titles Watch Dogs and The Crew.
Last month Ubisoft North America president Laurent Detoc praised the delay of Watch Dogs to ensure the game received some “extra fine tuning,” but said the title would have been a top-selling title if it had launched along with the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in November.
