Apple will introduce new iPad versions during a special invitation-only presentation in just two weeks, according to a October 8 report in “c/net”. While the focus of the event will be the unveiling of the new iPad and iPad mini, the new Mac Pro (a professional desktop computer ) and Mavericks, the latest version of Apple's computer operating system, will also be revealed.
Although Apple has not yet announced a venue for this event, “AllThingsD”, which been reliable in the past when it comes to reporting Apple event times, believes that it will be held in either Apple's Town Hall Auditorium in Cupertino or San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
What will the new iPads look like?
If the past is any guide, the fifth generation iPad will run the new 64 bit A7 chip that also runs in the new iPhone 5s. It probably will also have the same iPhone 5s fingerprint sensor and, an improved camera. The new iPad will also be thinner and lighter. Rumor has it that the this iPad will be redesigned with angled edges and a thinner bezel—making it look more like the current iPad mini.
As for the upcoming iPad mini, “AllThingsD” suggests that iPad mini will incorporate the new 64 bit A7 chip and possibly even Retina Display. “C/net” speculates that it will also come in a variety of colors, like the iPhone 5c.
We will definitely know on Tuesday, October 22. This day, by the way, is the same day that coincidentally (or not) Nokia's Nokia World event is being held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, to announce its new Lumia phones. It's also the date that Microsoft's Surface 2 tablets hit the market.
