Report: Joe Staley returns to practice

After suffering a sprained MCL last Sunday against the St. Louis Rams, Joe Staley returned to practice on Thursday afternoon.

In the win over the Rams, Staley left the game only seven minutes into the first quarter. Joe Looney took over at the RG position while incumbent starter Alex Boone switched to LT for the game.

It looked like initially the starting offensive line would be down two players on Sunday vs. the Seattle Seahawks. Barring no setbacks, Joe Staley will start at LT for the team.

Greg Roman and Jim Harbaugh said both Mike Iupati and Staley were running well, but wouldn't commit to them playing on Sunday or not. Iupati has been in the weight room after suffering a sprained MCL in Week 10 vs. the Saints and remained out of practice.

Looney and Daniel Kilgore are the reserve offensive linemen and it appears both guys will start on the bench against the Seahawks. Roman said both backups will be ready if needed to play any position.
