During a Skype interview with CNN, Chaldean-American businessman Mark Arabo said ISIS militants in Mosul are systematically beheading children as part of a campaign of genocide against Christians in Iraq, Catholic Online reported Friday.
"There is a park in Mosul, where they actually beheaded children and put their heads on a stick and have them in the park," he said. "More children are getting beheaded, mothers are getting raped and killed, and fathers are being hung."
The world, he added, "hasn't seen an evil like this for generations." Catholic Online said that while genocides have taken place in countries like Rwanda and Cambodia, the violence meted against Christians is particularly extreme because of the gleeful way it is being publicized.
It is clear from the videos that have been posted online that ISIS militants literally enjoy the act of murder, Catholic Online added. In one report, for example, ISIS militants joked and played with the severed head of one victim.
Catholic Online went so far as to call the sadism displayed by the Islamic extremists "the purest manifestation of evil witnessed since the Rape of Nanking during WWII," a six-week orgy of violence and bloodshed that took place when the Japanese Army took the former Chinese capital. According to accounts, Japanese soldiers gleefully murdered 300,000 out of 600,000 civilians and soldiers in the city.
"This is a crime against humanity," Arabo said of ISIS' actions. "This is much broader than a community or a state. This is crime against humanity. They are doing the most horrendous, the most heart-breaking crimes that you can think of."
According to Arabo, around 95 percent of Christians have fled the city, while an estimated five percent have converted to Islam. He also said ISIS militants have placed so-called "death stamps" on Christian homes, ensuring that whoever returns is murdered.
Refugees in another part of Iraq have fled to the mountains, but to no avail. According to reports, ISIS militants have surrounded them and are now waiting for them to die of starvation and exposure.
This is not the first report of militant Islamists beheading young children. Last September, a report emerged that a mother and her 40-day-old infant were among those beheaded by rebels in Syria.
"Christian holocaust is in our midst," Arabo said. "This should never be happening in 2014." Arabo and other leaders in his community met in the White House last week and called on U.S. leaders to grant asylum to some 300,000 Christians fleeing ISIS.
