The NFL announced on Friday afternoon that Frank Gore was fined $7,875 for a face mask penalty against the Carolina Panthers. This is the first time Gore has been fined in the 2013 season.

While blocking in pass protection, Gore was flagged for a face mask penalty on a play that resulted in an incomplete pass intended for Vernon Davis in the second quarter. The penalty was declined by Carolina because it was on third down and making it fourth down forced a 49ers punt.

Gore was previously fined for wearing his socks too low in the 2012 NFC Championship game against the Atlanta Falcons. He was also fined in the 2012 season for throwing a ball in the stands in Week 17 against the Arizona Cardinals.

It was also announced that 49ers WR Anquan Boldin was fined $7,875 for a head butt. Late in the second quarter before Vernon Davis' touchdown reception, Boldin laid a head butt that wasn't called as a penalty after Panthers CB Captain Munnerlyn was flagged for one on the previous possession.

Munnerlyn was not fined for throwing a head butt in the NFC Divisional playoff game. Mike Mitchell was also not fined for delivering a late hit that resulted in an unnecessary roughness penalty.

Panthers CB Thomas Davis was fined $7,875 for throwing a punch at a 49ers player last weekend, according to Joe Person. Jim Harbaugh was not fined for getting on the field and flagged for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty late in the second quarter.
