On Friday, radio station KYGL of Texarkana, Texas, said that Dustin Ford of Longview was banned by Facebook for "likening his friend to a liberal" in a discussion about Barack Obama.
The day after the discussion, Ford found his account frozen and the post removed by Facebook.
According to KYGL's Jeff Easterling, Ford's post was titled, “Seizing the day with baby Obama.”
"The comment was not threatening in anyway," Easterling wrote.
Ford said the social media site is violating his Constitutional rights.
"Our constitutional rights are being taken from us very slowly, however small this may be," he said. "I could understand if they wanted to censor something that could be viewed as violent, but this is not slamming the president. I was just likening my friend to a liberal. If you type the president’s name, are you automatically flagged to be reviewed? There’s something scary about that."
The East Texas man is not the only person to accuse Facebook of viewpoint discrimination.
Many conservatives have complained bitterly that they are being selectively targeted for their political views.
On Wednesday, we reported that Diane Sori, a Florida-based conservative blogger, was banned for 30 days over a post she had nothing to do with.
According to a Washington, D.C.-based employee of Facebook who did not give permission to be identified, Sori was blocked because she is an administrator of the page where the post was made. But, Sori said on Friday, the administrator who actually posted the offending link was taken out of "Facebook jail" while she and another administrator still cannot access the site.
What makes these situations worse, Sori says, is that average users cannot contact Facebook to take care of these issues.
