British newspapers are reporting that Dermot O'Leary is close to signing a contract to host the U.S version of THE X FACTOR. Ex-IDOL judge and producer Simon Cowell is bringing the talent show to America and Paula Abdul is also being rumored to be part of the show when it premieres.

O'Leary, 37, has hosted the British version of the show since 2007 and is also well known fixture in the U.K. for hosting BIG BROTHER's LITTLE BROTHER and the game show 1 VS 100.

There are also reports that O'Leary's long-time partner Dee Koppang will also take a behind-the-scenes role on show. She has previously worked as a producer on AMERICAN IDOL.

The Daily Star quotes an unnamed source as saying the deal is all but signed.

“Dermot wasn’t 100% sure that he would sign up because he was getting tired of being apart from Dee," said the source. "But this news is brilliant. They are just going through the fine print of the contracts but it shouldn’t be too much longer before they are over in Los Angeles setting up a new home.”

The pair have been together for eight years.
