A worker died on Monday morning at the Levi's Stadium construction site in Santa Clara.
Officials on the site said that a delivery truck driver was severely injured while unloading materials from his vehicle. Emergency services were called and the driver was transported to the hospital.
The 49ers released the following statement in regards to this tragedy:
"The 49ers organization learned this morning that an accident occurred involving a driver as he delivered materials to the stadium. Our sincerest thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and co-workers affected by this tragedy."
This incident is under further investigation and the true causes of this death are unknown. Construction work on Levi's Stadium has been put on hold for the remainder of Monday.
It is the second fatal accident that has occurred during the construction of Levi's Stadium. Previously, a worker was killed in an elevator shaft last June.
