On Thursday, CNN aired a report that included video snippets of casualties being dragged off the streets in areas held by the Palestinians. But Warner Todd Huston reported Friday at Breitbart.com that one of the casualties in the CNN video was fake.

"Worse," Huston wrote, "this particular faux victim video is a well-known fake."

"Breitbart News already posted about this 'Pallywood' theatrical extravaganza," he added.

On Thursday, Breitbart reported that "the locals are hard at work playing the victim for the world’s press."

"Footage from the BBC captured by watchdog group Honest Reporting shows a heavy man lying on the ground and being carried away by residents, apparently after being injured by an Israeli attack," Breitbart said.

But moments later, that same man was seen "walking about and obviously unhurt."

"The widespread staging of such victim situations is a favored tactic of Arabs fighting Israel and has come to be known as 'Pallywood,'" Breitbart said.

The idea is to generate sympathy in the world for those coming under Israeli fire after launching rockets into Israeli neighborhoods.

The tactic is not new, Huston said. In 2008, video was produced that showed a young Palestinian boy named Muhammad al-Dura being fired upon by Israeli Defense Forces.

After the video caused international outrage, it was proven that "no Muhammad al-Dura was ever shot."

Huston explains that these videos end up being used by western media because they rely on "stringers" to get video of events in the region, leaving them open to fakes and propaganda.

"But," he wrote, "all these western news agencies know this is happening and they continue to use it."
