The NFL announced that San Francisco 49ers punter Andy Lee was named the NFC Special Teams player of the Week for his performance against the Tennessee Titans last Sunday. Lee becomes the first 49ers player to win this award three times.
Against the Titans in Week 7, Lee had six punts and had three of them inside the 20-yard line. He averaged 46.7 yards per punt with the longest one being 56 net yards. Lee also had a 55 yard punt muffed by Titans WR Darius Reynaud in the fourth quarter which led to a touchdown by Kassim Osgood.
Lee has previously won this award in Week 15 of the 2011 season and Week 7 of the 2012 season. He has been named a Pro Bowler in 2007, 2009 and 2011. Lee is also a four-time All-Pro (2007, 2009, 2011, 2012) punter who won the Pro Football Weekly Golden Toe Award in 2011.
