The 49ers have reduced the roster to 74 players as the deadline arrived to reduce the number of players on Tuesday afternoon. Several players were added to the non-football injury (NFI) and the physically unable to perform (PUP) lists. The only two players who were waived/injured were British discus thrower and DE Lawrence Okoye as well as DT Lamar Divens.
DT Tank Carradine, DT Quinton Dial, RB Marcus Lattimore, OT Luke Marquardt and CB Eric Wright were moved to the NFI list. Michael Crabtree and Mario Manningham were placed on the PUP list and are eligible to return as early as Week 7. It should be all but guaranteed that Manningham will return by the earliest possible date while Crabtree will return in November.
The 49ers also placed Chris Culliver on the injured reserve as he suffered a torn ACL in training camp. All players on the IR, PUP and NFI do not count against the 49ers active roster and are not allowed to practice until Week 6 at the earliest.
The deadline to trim the roster to 53 players is will be on Sunday.
