The 49ers added depth at the cornerback position by reaching an agreement for a one-year deal with Vikings CB Chris Cook on Friday afternoon, according to Matt Barrows.

Cook was a disappointing CB for the Vikings in his four seasons with the team. The 6-2, 212 pound cornerback has the right frame for the 49ers, but he will need to be coached up if he wants to contribute in the secondary.

He failed to record an interception during his entire tenure with the Minnesota Vikings. He is projected to be a special teams contributor and will be part of a mix at the cornerback position.

The 49ers have Tramaine Brock and Chris Culliver to battle Cook for playing time ion defense. Cook will be part of a mix that includes Dax Swanson, Eric Wright and Darryl Morris for a roster spot.
