Johnson is a big framed CB at 6-2, 200 pounds where he can be a physical cornerback for the team to develop. He will compete with Eric Wright, Chris Culliver, Jimmie Ward, Chris Cook and Perrish Cox for playing time on defense.
Hyde, the team's second-round draft pick is the presumed heir to Frank Gore at running back, who's contract expires after the 2014 season is over. He is a bruising power running back who excels at downhill running for the 49ers ground game. Hyde will compete with Kendall Hunter, Marcus Lattimore and LaMichael James for playing time in the backfield.
With Johnson and Hyde both signed, the 49ers have seven more draft picks remaining. Jimmie Ward, Chris Borland, Brandon Thomas, Marcus Martin, Bruce Ellington, Kenneth Acker and Trey Millard remain unsigned.
