The 49ers signed QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson and RB Jewel Hampton to future contracts on Wednesday afternoon, according to the NFL wire. With both players signed, all eight practice squad members are under contract for the 2014 season.

Bethel-Thompson initially signed with the team after being claimed off the waivers from the Minnesota Vikings. After being released to make room for another player, he was re-signed to the practice squad. He will compete for the backup quarterback job with whom the 49ers bring for competition. Colt McCoy will be a free agent and it is possible they could draft someone to compete.

Hampton was an undrafted free agent in 2012 and spent that season mostly on the PUP list before being placed on the 53-man roster. He was inactive in every game while he was a practice squad member for the 2013 season. Hampton will compete with LaMichael James, Marcus Lattimore, Kendall Hunter and Frank Gore for playing time and could contribute on special teams.

Here is the full list of future contracts the 49ers have signed thus far:

S D.J. Campbell
