Report: 49ers assistant Peter Hansen takes coaching job with Stanford

Stanford University announced they hired 49ers assistant coach Peter Hansen to be an inside linebackers coach on Monday afternoon.

Hansen was a defensive assistant and outside linebackers coach for the 49ers throughout the last three years under Jim Harbaugh. He previously worked at Stanford with Harbaugh in 2009 and 2010 behind current 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

This is the third 49ers coach to take a job elsewhere after the 2013 season. Offensive line coach Tim Drevno took an identical job with the University of Southern California while offensive assistant Paul Wulff took the offensive coordinator job at the University of South Florida.

Previously, Vic Fangio interviewed for the Washington Redskins head coaching vacancy while Greg Roman spoke with the Minnesota Vikings. Defensive line coach Jim Tomsula was a target of the Cleveland Browns, who ultimately hired Mike Pettine.
