Reports indicate that a tragic incident Wednesday in Herkimer County, N.Y. has left several dead and others injured. CNN reported on March 13 about the incident that left four killed in a shooting spree and one man suspected.
Kurt Meyers, 64, is the suspect police believe killed four in a shooting spree that also left at least two others wounded. In addition, it is believed that Meyers blew up a house in the area, which seems to have been his apartment. Schools were put on lockdown Wednesday morning after the shooting reports broke in the area that is about 70 miles west-northwest of Albany. A local hospital was on lockdown Wednesday afternoon with Meyers still unaccounted for at this point.
Details are still developing on the incident, but Huffington Post shares that the shots were fired in two separate incidents. Meyers is said to have opened fire at a car wash and a barbershop that were a mile apart. The Mohawk apartment of Ken Meyers has been searched, and they found guns and ammunition after crews put out a fire there. The shots apparently happened shortly after the apartment fire.
It seems that Meyers was last seen driving a red Jeep Cherokee, and he has a white beard. The village as a whole is on alert and locked down as police try to determine if Meyers is still in the Jeep, on foot, or was even perhaps picked up by a taxi. An update from officials is expected later in the day regarding Meyers and the four killed in the shooting spree.
