Got a nice and gracious note from Larry Cedar regarding my thoughts on his taking on King Lear with the Porters of Hellsgate.
He encouraged me to check out the work which he and the Porters are doing, encouragement which I now pass on to you:
"Read your article, and thanks for the plug. The Porters are a wonderfully talented, young, emerging company who need all the publicity they can get.
And yes, I must have been out of my mind...but then again, so was Lear."
Mr. Cedar also directed me to the first review of "Lear" from StageSceneLA. I don't typically read other critics when they're writing about shows I might myself review. From what I've heard, most of what is printed on Mr Shanley's site is positive. Feel free to read and judge for yourself.
On the subject of reviews, be sure to read me both here and at Backstage where I'll be reviewing weekly, starting with "Freud's Last Session" at the Broad Stage.
