In the west, most (including Christians) are offended by the Biblical teachings on sex. In the Middle East, however, most would agree with the Bible in this area. They would instead be mad at the Biblical teaching on forgiveness. In the west, on the other hand, most would agree, at least in principle, on the importance of forgiveness.
Each culture throughout history has sometimes embraced and sometimes rejected parts of the Bible. But it is above culture- all cultures. No individual or culture has ever been naturally conformed to scripture. If that were so,then the Bible would be a collection of merely human teachings. But it is impossible to embrace Biblical teachings without God supernaturally taking the initiative. The Triune God calls us, all of us, to love and to obey him. Only God knows how much he calls each one, but that is his business. We have heard his call on radio and TV, in person and in print, etc. Therefore we are all responsible to say yes to him.
Some said that if my father were to preach they would go to hear him, but not others. But when a rich man died and wanted Lazarus to be sent from the dead to preach to his brothers to warn them not to come to his place of torment, he assumed they would heed him. But God said if they would not hear Moses and the prophets, neither would they pay attention to one who was raised from the dead.
"God can draw a straight line with a crooked stick." Otherwise he could not work through any of us. But whether we are warped by the normal besetting sins of the west or Middle East or of any other region, God calls us to repent instead of making excuses for whatever the Holy Spirit through the Bible calls sin. That is a struggle for each of us to do. But it is much better than to give in to our sins that appeal to us so much. It is much better to struggle to love and to obey Jesus Christ daily and to fail at times, than to easily succeed on the dark side all the time!
