Let's suppose Rush Limbaugh and others who are predicting it are right, and 2014 is a “wave” election even bigger than 2010, and Republicans sweep the elections and gain seats in the House and win control of the Senate. Now let's suppose the Republicans actually learn how to be a real opposition party after the 2014 elections. I realize on reading that you probably think I've borrowed the mayor of Toronto's crack pipe. Let's at least say some of the Republicans in Congress follow the lead of members like Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and Mike Lee and actually stand up for something. The last two years of Obama's presidency will be gridlock, nothing gets done. And that's a good thing, for the most part, it stops the march of the progressive agenda for the last two years of the most fraudulent president in the history of the country.
Then the 2016 election comes and the owners of the country, the voters, have to decide. Do we take that left turn at Albuquerque or move forward again and go North toward Santa Fe? In 2016 the voters really need to get this clear and get it right, we either want progressive big government heading towards socialism and communism, or we want to kick out most of the progressives and have limited government, freedom, and American Exceptionalism again. It really is a choice and it's time we make it more clearly this time.
Let's say we get it right and 2016 is a wave election that looks like 2014 and 2010, and not the disaster that was 2012. Republicans gain a few more seats in both houses of Congress while Ted Cruz is elected the 45th president of the United States. And a few other surprises happen in 2014 and 2016. One, lots of RINOs get ousted in primaries, including John Boehner and Lindsey Graham. Mitch McConnell survives his primary challenge because Matt Bevin is exposed as a fraud who supported TARP, but McConnell barely survives the general election to return to the senate but the GOP caucus dethrones him and elects Rand Paul the new Majority Leader of the Senate. In the absence of Boehner, the House GOP caucus replaces him with Cathy McMorris Rodgers from Washington state. Ironically, this new speaker is elected from the same district that had sent former Democrat Speaker Tom Foley to Washington D.C.
The new Majority Leader Rand Paul write a gigantic bill that repeals and reverses every law, executive order, and regulation put in place or signed by President Barack Obama. It quickly gains supporters in both houses of Congress and debate begins. The respective leaders schedule a vote on final passage of the bill for Jan. 20, 2017, just minutes after the inauguration of the new president. Minutes after President Ted Cruz takes the oath of office, with ex-president Barack Obama watching, the Majority Leader and the Speaker present the bill to the new president for signing and he immediately signs it.
Then President Ted Cruz begins his inaugural address, “Now that we have reversed the damage done to the Republic over the last eight years, we can now move forward....”
I am neither predicting nor betting that is how things will go. But they should.
