Rep. John Boehner Needs the Boot

By: Charles Benninghoff

Imagine where we'd be today if a patriotic American had been leading the conservative House Majority for the past four years. Obama wouldn't have accomplished anything. Instead, we have John Boehner in charge of the House, a man who would rather give your house and your job away to an illegal alien drug smuggler than stand up to Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV).

Rep. Raul Labrador (R-ID) stated last week when speaking about Boehner, "There is a hunger in the conference for bold, visionary leaders, and this is not just conservatives — you talk to more middle-of-the-road members of the conference, they're kind of frustrated with the direction of this leadership, and they're looking for ways to change that." Thankfully, there is a way to change that.

The House Republicans have been operating from a position of weakness for more than four years now, ever since Boehner became Speaker. Rather than bold conservative opposition to Obama, we've seen repeated failures, compromises, concessions and secret deals with the Democrat Party.

The American people did not rise up in 2010 and elect a conservative majority in the House by a landslide so that the Republicans could turn around and advance Obama's agenda. We elected them to stop Obama. The House controls the purse-strings for the federal government, so they could do that if they had real conservative leadership.

Amnesty would not even be up for discussion in the House if we had a patriotic American running the show. Instead, we have John Boehner, who called Rep. Steve King (R-IA) an obscene name in front of House Democrats recently, because King pointed out the truthful fact that many illegal aliens today are running drugs for the Mexican cartels.

Picture what this country would be like right now if we actually had a bold conservative Speaker of the House.

  • There would be no funding for Obamacare. Not one dime of taxpayer money for it. Republicans could have offered a free-market fix and cut all Obamacare funding, and told the Democrats to take it or leave it.
  • Select Committees with subpoena and prosecution powers would have been appointed to investigate Fast & Furious, Benghazi, the IRS scandal and other Obama regime crimes and to charge the wrongdoers with those crimes. Boehner has blocked all of these investigations.
  • We could have a balanced budget instead of constant debt ceiling increases and a National Debt that is skyrocketing into the trillions.

Boehner, on the other hand, held a series of secret meetings last summer with Obama and Harry Reid, so they could carve out a special exemption from Obamacare for Congress.

In the Bible, Isaiah 40:31 describes the type of bold conservative leadership that we need to oppose Obama right now: "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they will mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

Rather than tireless opposition to Obama, we have Boehner playing golf with the man and helping him destroy America. Boehner's Speakership is in real trouble right now, especially since many of the rank-and-file Republicans are getting fed up with him, as Rep. Labrador stated. We need to give the House Conservatives a push right now and tell them to oust Boehner.
