U.S. Rep. Paul Broun, M.D. (R-Ga) gave a statement today linking Labor Day and the plight of American workers to the Affordable Care Act (ACA or Obamacare), and what the congressman believes are the job-killing effects of the new health care law.
“On Labor Day, we celebrate the workers of our country and thank them for their hard work and willingness to make our country a stronger and better place,” said Rep. Broun. “Unfortunately, for many of those working or seeking to find work, our current Administration’s out-of-control spending, onerous regulations, and stifling taxes are hurting our economy and making it harder for Americans to find full-time work.
"Right now, Obamacare is one of the biggest job killers in our nation, and I’m fighting with every fiber to repeal it in full. It’s time we put a stop to these wrong-headed big government policies, and work to create an environment that will actually benefit American labor and encourage free enterprise, as intended by our Founding Fathers.”
One of the issues that Congress will take up in September is continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government; the current CR expires at the end of September.
Some conservative Republicans, including Broun, have advocated for defunding of Obamacare within the budget bill. Since Democrats, some Republicans and President Barack Obama will not support a resolution without funding for the health care law, such action could result in a shutdown of federal government.
Broun represents Georgia's 10th congressional district.
