Rent-a-cops threaten FIJA outreach in Philly

News from the liberterrain...

"That's 'M. Harris' assaulting me and trying to steal my camera." – from George Donnelly video.

The state's officially sanctioned law enforcement officers finally get the message and leave the peaceful pamphleteers alone, so what happens?

The freedom advocates get threatened and pushed around by private security guards.

Cop flopThis security guard, identified by himself as
"I'm a cop" and on YouTube as one of "three confused
and angry thugs" threatened to seize a video camera if it
wasn't turned off and warned, "you will never get it back."
Note the "Security" patch on this "cop's" shoulder.

Recent Jury Rights activism:

Veteran rights activist Julian Heicklen and his "Tyranny Fighters" joined forces with George Donnelly and Jim Babb of the Valley Forge Revolutionaries to distribute Fully Informed Jury Association (FIJA) handouts in Philadelphia Thursday.

Three weeks ago (FIJA activists harassed, threatened in Philadelphia) Homeland Security police tried to force them to leave, attempted to seize Heicklen's JURY INFO sign, and threatened to shove Donnelly's videocam down his throat.

This time, while 17 state officers were visible, "Apparently a memo came down ordering them to tolerate our peaceful public education effort," Donnelly wrote on his website, Arm your Mind for Liberty.

But not everyone got the word.

"Three furious security guards demanded we move across the street and threatened to permanently steal my camera," Donnelly reports.

A shouting and shoving match ensued and the libertarians refused to back down.

Finally, according to Donnelly, "Over the radio came an order for them to stay out of the courtyard."

Later a passerby congratulated them for standing up to the security guards, and a woman who accepted a brochure said, "If it's something I ain't supposed to know, I want to know."

What had started peacefully ended peacefully with a total of nine participants distributing 250 handouts at two locations, the James A. Bryant US Courthouse and around the corner in the federal building courtyard.

Julian Heicklen's next FIJA outreach effort, Monday, May 3, 2010, at 11:45 am, takes him back to Manhattan where harassment, arrest, and forcible transportation to a psychiatric hospital are virtually guaranteed without witnesses, photographers and camcorder operators to back him up.

Julian Heicklen needs volunteers to witness, photograph and video his outreach efforts. He encourages you to join his "Tyranny Fighters" by emailing him at jph13-at-psu-dot-edu, but be advised that the government may be intercepting his emails.

This is a crock. My guess is the legal authority of those security guards is no different than any random person, maybe I should go around threatening to steal peoples' stuff and see what happens to me.

Almost makes you wonder if they didn't send these guys out to harass. They know they can't actually do anything but they're trying to scare them away. Maybe there's a memo about that that could be obtained with the Freedom of Info Act.

I'm convinced those guys have zero authority because I tussled with them twice in self-defense and no further action was taken against me. A cop would have arrested me for some bogus nonsense like resisting arrest.
