If you are looking for a fun wine event in Reno, there is something offered Wednesday through Sunday this week, with a few upcoming events later this month.
On Wednesday Whispering Vine's Foothill store is hosting a Ken Wright Cellars tasting for $30. Ken Wright Cellars is out of Carlton, Oregon in Willamette Valley, where Pinot Noir reigns. The south side store is located at 85 Foothill Road. On Thursday, both Whispering Vine locations will be hosting a Picket Fence tasting for $15. Picket Fence Vineyards is out of Sonoma County, California, another good climate for Pinot Noir. 3886 Mayberry Drive is the westside location of Whispering Vine.
Also, on Thursday, Total Wine located at 6671 South Virginia Street is offering a class on California wines beyond Napa. The class includes pours of whites and reds from Sonoma, Amador and Central Coast California. It is from 6:30 to 8:30pm. The cost is $20.
On Friday, Ben's at both the 3480 Lakeside and 10870 South Virginia locations will be pouring wines from Napa Cellars out of Oakville, California. The cost is $5. At the 4th and Keystone location, Tahoe Ridge Wines out of Minden Nevada will be sampled. The cost for that is free.
On Saturday and Sunday stop by the tasting table at Total Wine to sample good summer wines for under $15. The tasting is free and will be offered from noon to 6pm on Saturday and noon to 4pm on Sunday.
Later this month the merchants of the river walk are hosting the Reno Wine Walk on May 17th from 2 to 5pm. The cost is $20. For more information visit www.renoriver.org
On Tuesday, May 20th, the Atlantis Steakhouse is offering a Cakebread Cellars Wine Dinner. The Napa and Anderson Valley Cakebread wines are paired with a four course meal. The mouth-watering menu is posted at www.atlantiscasino.com The cost is $125 per person.
