Fall is harvest time in wine country. Fall is wine festival time in the greater Reno area. Three fun festivals are coming up in the next few weeks.
The Alpen Wine Festival will take place on Sunday, August 29th from 2pm to 5pm. Over 40 wineries from Northern California will be represented. Along with the wine tasting, there will be live music performed by the electric jazz group, Charged Particles. There will also be a silent auction. The Lake Tahoe Autumn Food and Wine Festival takes place from Friday, September 5th through Sunday, September 7th. There will be several events featured throughout the week-end including a farm to Tahoe dinner and a winemaking seminar. Barrels and Bites is taking place at the Peppermill in the Tuscany Ballroom on Friday, September 26. Over 500 wines will be featured from all over the world along with hors d'oeuvres, entrees and desserts. The cost is $50 in advance and $65 at the door. Total Wine is offering two wine classes in the month of September. On Thursday, September 4th from 6:30pm to 8:30 pm learn the fundamentals of wine tasting in Wine 101.
