Craft shows can be a great way to raise money for a school, church, or charity. Many people enjoy shopping at craft fairs because they offer opportunity to find unique items not available at stores. At the same time, local craft makers and artists are eager to participate and sell their items.
Organizing a craft show takes a lot of time and attention to detail. Some things to remember:
1. Location, location, location. Be sure the location is large enough to hold the craft fair, that there is ample parking, and that it is easy to find.
2. Vendor applications. A vendor application should specify space allotted and any fees associated with participation. Will you be providing tables? If so, what size? Is electricity readily available? The application should also ask what the vendor will be selling and possibly request a sample photo.
4. Confirm spots. To help things run smoothly, send final confirmation information to vendors a week or so before the event. Include information like what time to arrive for set-up, where their space will be located, and how much space they have. Give contact information for an on-site show director that can answer any questions on the day of the craft fair and offer assistance to exhibitors.
5. Advertise. Print up fliers, set up a website, or place an ad in the classified section of the local newspaper.
