Renamed Rustic Gourmet moving to downtown Albany venue

Earlier this week, I noted that The Rustic Gourmet planned to move from suburban Delmar to an undisclosed location in downtown Albany.

Today, on schedule, the Delmar location closed and owner Bonnie Kohl told local media she has purchased a city building for her business at 138 Washington Avenue, opposite the Albany Institute of History & Art.

That address previously had been home to the pubs Anna O'Keefe's and Smitty's.

The new venture, to be called The Grille at 138, will be a neighborhood bistro-style restaurant. A June opening is projected if renovations and transfer of her liquor license are on schedule.

The Delmar restaurant had a different look than the new city site will have. It was replete with elaborate mirrors, wrought iron chairs, and antiques. Its successor will depend on wood, stone and copper accents.
