Do your children love castles, knights, dragons and anything medieval? Then head over to the 20th Annual Florida Renaissance Festival in Deerfield Beach. There will be artisans, games, music, jousting, educational demonstrations, games and much more.
Each weekend, a specific theme will be featured.
February 11 & 12 - Celtic Irish Weekend - Kiss the Blarney Stone
February 18, 19, 20 - Pirates Weekend - Pillage of the village
February 25, 26- Pet Costume Contest - Medieval Menagerie
March 3, 4 - Whenches Weekend (maybe not for the kids)
March 10, 11- Battle Weekend - Arms and Armour
The artisans present their wares for purchase and demonstrate their artistic capacities. There will be glass blowing, hammered pewter, wooden toys, pottery, clothing and more.
Enjoy a variety of performances with knights on horses, magicians and musical minstrels - plenty for the children to pretend they are in the land of medieval times.
Also, bring an appetite fit for a king or queen. Food vendors are plenty.
After you attend the festival, take these ideas back home and let the children use their own creative talents in making medieval crafts. Bring out the art supplies and work on projects together.
