For the next 4 weekends The Florida Renaissance Festival is celebrating their 20th anniversary. That’s right My Lords and Wenches. It’s time to pull out those doublets and corsets from storage and get down to Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield and join in the Renaissance fun. From now until March 11th Quiet Waters has been “suspended between myth and history” with jousts, sword fights, wenches and performances by Cast in Bronze, the only musical act in the world featuring a four-ton instrument known as the “Carillon” and reprising the highly praised 30 minute smash hit “Musical Macbeth!”
Each weekend will be themed with entertainment and special re-enactments highlighting that theme. These weekends are:
- Pirates Weekend – Pillage of the Village – Feb 18, 19 & 20
- Pet’s Weekend – Medieval Menagerie – Feb 25 & 26
- Wenches Weekend – Bodacious Bodices – March 3 & 4
- Arms and Armor Weekend – Mar 10 & 11
Come on down and feast on roasted leg of beast, toast the Crown with cider, ale or my favorite, Meade. Visit the artisan booths and watch craftsman dip candles, make arrows, create armor, or get your wench fitted for a new corset. Try your hand at archery, feats of strength or games of chance. Chat with wenches, listen to strolling minstrels and maybe get your English accent on! This is a day the whole family will enjoy and talk about.
