Experience remote control mania, a hobby for all ages, where everyone can take part. Whether you want to get down and dirty or barrel down the track, there are many options to feed the need for speed.

Introduce the family to slot car racing at Fast Track Hobbies in Rocklin where they have one of the longest angled tracks, curving around at 165 feet. The cars can really get going to breakneck speeds of up to 100 miles per hour! Some enthusiasts bring in their own cars but no need; you can rent them, 15 minutes of race time for only $5 and kids as young as 2 years old can operate the cars.

If you would rather get out on a rugged & rocky dirt course or a more refined oval asphalt track, you can stop by R/C Country on Folsom Blvd and purchase a 1/8th, 1/10th, or 1/24th scale ride of your own. There are many vehicles and price ranges to choose from, the options and designs are endless. Don't forget to find your pit crew, it is a great opportunity to share the love of working with tools and mechanical engineering. Some of the more advanced vehicles can be a little bit of an investment, but if you love to see your kids giggling and grinning as they slide around a curve or go flat out over a couple of jumps it is definitely worth considering.

LSR Speedway in Sacramento has two indoor tracks. There is a crisscrossed dirt track which has jumps and tight curves, while the asphalt oval offers a smooth ride. Open practice is Tuesday through Thursday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. for daily fee of $10. On Fridays & Sundays there is early practice with races to follow for $15 per driver. They also provide pit areas for your own rigs and have some rentals available.

So race out for some family fun and try blazing slot cars, skidding around an asphalt oval or throwing up dirt on your track at home and enjoy the rush of crossing the finish line.
